What is Suomi and why is it always flooding the popular feed?

submitted by lilmizzvalz to AskReddit [link] [comments]

Suomi or akm? What is better??

I played the game a lot on release. Recently took a break but have started playing again this week. Before I stopped playing I mained the Suomi but since I’ve started playing again I’ve realized that the akm is really good and so much cheaper to craft if you drop it for better weapons after kills. I guess the reason for this post is to see what you guys think is the better weapon to use? Even if it isn’t one of the 2 let me know your thoughts on it! Thanks and goodluck outlanders!

So as the Queen of Suomi I recently got into a Great Holy War for the Suomonesko Faith for de jure Ruthenia against a Slavic Pagan. However, I don’t want it. I just recently adopted feudalism, and my goal is to create The Empire of Scandinavia under a Finnish vision. What do I do with Ruthenia?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but what is happening to Suomi?

Don't know how many of you guys have noticed recently, but Suomi-the former #1 RS player and a well known figure in the community-seems to be having a weird few days.
He has started Tweeting about 'trusting yourself' the NSA, and seems to believe KeemStar is the only person who can save us.
Does anyone know what's going on with Suomi, is there a reason behind his recent actions?

What is the general attitude to your swedish speaking minority? [X-post /r/Suomi]

I have roots in the Pietarsaari area on my mother's side, but have lived in Stockholm all my life. My countless vacations in Finland have been in swedish speaking areas (Pedersöre), so that is the only part of Finland I know of. Both geographically and culturally.
I am curious, after a conversation with a relative on the subject, what is the general attitude to the swedish speaking minority in Finland? Are there any discrimination? Any stereotypes?
Thanks for any answers!

Top 10 Pro Games

Since there are many new players not that familiar with the pro scene of the last years, I decided to collect some of the best games I can think of. I tried to balance the players and teams. If possible I used the video link to whoever organized the game/tournament. Please add your favourites in the comments.

  1. maimin_matty (Japanese) vs The Sheriff (Goths), ca. 2000
Map: ES@Seasons_v2
One of the earliest pro games available, I decided to include this for its curiosity. Crazy castle age warfare with forward tcs, petards and Goths going for cav archers. The Sheriff was also involved in the first strategy guides released for AoE 2.

  1. ECL Africa 2 vs 2, SY (Mr. Yo, Lyx) vs Secret (TheViper, Slam), Game 1, 2018
[SY] Mr. Yo: Ethiopians, Lyx: Slavs
[Secret] TheViper: Ethiopians, Slam: Aztecs
Map: Gorge
This was played in the huge EscapeAoE Champions League. At the time Mr. Yo was not very succesful for a long time. In the Africa 2 vs 2 section he went absolute beast mode, something we saw in the latest World Cup as well, which he played with Lyx too.

  1. TheViper (Vikings) vs TheKheif (Spanish), 2017
Map: Arena
One of the craziest defensive plays I ever witnessed in all the years watching AoE. The thumbnail speaks for itself.

  1. BO 21: TheViper (Vikings) vs Jordan23 (Huns), Game 21, 2014
Map: Meatballs
The end of a legendary series with Jordan23, who recently came back to pro play, and the snake going head to head. They battled it out until the insane decider game 21.

  1. KotD 3, Group Stage, DauT (Saracens) vs Liereyy (Slavs), Game 3 (starts at 1:52:40), 2020
Map: Arabia
Nobody favoured the Lord in this matchup. Liereyy was maybe on the height of his game, being very successful in 2020 and actually preparing for tournaments. But the Lord took him to the decider. And for the decider he delivered an absolute masterpiece.

  1. Red Bull Wololo Finals, TheViper (Indians) vs Mr. Yo (Malians), Game 3 (starts at 40:00), 2020
Map: Aztlan
This is the day where Mr. Yo became Viper's arch enemy. Before this he usually got outclassed by Viper in tournament games (with some exceptions). But from the RBW1 finals on he continued to do very well, winning on several occasions.
In this game he was about to have a hard time against the Viper, because with Indians he will have an insane food income from the shore fish in the middle. This meant he had to play super aggressive, and he delivered. Even holding with a feudal age army against castle age units for some minutes.
At first the community was sceptical towards the Empire Wars mode but it has proven to produce insane fast paced games.
  1. BOA 2 Finals, Secret vs aM, Game 4 (1:09:30), 2020
[Secret] TheViper: Cumans, TatoH: Goths, DauT: Koreans
[aM] Liereyy: Malay, Hera: Tatars, MbL: Indians
Map: Donut
If I had to choose the best series ever, this is maybe it. Hours of top level play with interesting civs, strats and maps. This is game 4, where the aggression starts at minute 8 and culminates in Hera and MbL desperately trying to hold a slung goth spam while the Lord pushes the kid with towers and war wagons.

  1. KotD 1 Finals, Liereyy (Mongols) vs TheViper (Incas), Game 4 (starts 1:18:45), 2017
Map: Arabia
Liereyy "da keed" (as memb would say) needed to make something happen after being down 3:0 in the finals. The young prodigy (I think he was about 15 at the time) showed the AoE world what he could do in this insanely aggressive game against the best player ever.

  1. KotD 3 Semifinals, Mr. Yo (Saracens) vs Liereyy (Khmer), Game 7 (starts at 2:08:00), 2020
An instant classic, as Yo and Liereyy were the survivors of a branch of death (Hera, Viper, Yo and Liereyy all being in the same branch) and battled the spot in the finals out until the last drop of blood. This game is an dramatic back and forth with action all over the map that has it all.

  1. ECL Lan Finals Day 2 3vs3, aM vs Suomi, Game 5 (starts at 3:07:00), 2019
[aM] Liereyy: Slavs, Hera: Teutons, MbL: Turks
[Suomi] Zuppi: Saracens, TheMax: Goths, Villese: Celts
Map: Oasis
For the decider game of their 3v3 series these crazy teams delivered a 3 hour game. It is only 3 vs 3 but it feels like a 8 vs 8, as the map is just completely littered with units and corpses for hours. They are pushing back and forth, and at one point the defensive plays in this game rival the one from Viper's #8.

Best first gun build

Hello all,
I hope posts of this nature are allowed. If not my apologies.
I'm an engineering college student and I'd like to get into building my own firearms. Were is a good place to start? I'm fairly handy but limited on what tools I have access to. I have a Dremel tool and files, as well as an Ender 5 3d printer. I wouldn't be opposed to buying a drill press or a cheap welder, but a mill and a lathe are pretty much out. What is a good and/or inexpensive first build? I've been looking at build a PCC from a STEN, Suomi m31, or a kp44/pps43 parts kit. I've also thought about building a vz 61 skorpion on a 3d printed reciever, but I can't find a barrel. What would ya'll recommend!

On Russia trolling, and how to find people to play DOTA2 with?

Hello. I've been playing DOTA2 for 3-4 months now, however I have been unable to find people to play with. There have been some, whom with I still play sometimes, but there's no consistency to it, and somehow I just don't end up meeting anyone even though I've joined 10 DOTA2 themed Discord servers, joined Steam groups with a DOTA2 theme and posted ads about looking for people to play with. I also posted a couple of threads on Dota2pubs but haven't really found anyone yet.
As I've tried asking for advice from other people how to find people to play with, they usually respond with: If you have a good time playing with someone, invite them to your party and add them your friendslist.
This seems like fine advice, however, in this particular case it's not an applicable approach. The reason for this is not exactly related to DOTA2, but it's regardless necessary to explain, otherwise you don't have any chance of understanding why this is a problem.
I got into trouble with the Russian security services approximately in 2016. I don't know why exactly, I didn't ask for it, and before I got into this mess, I had never really paid any thought on this whole topic of you know espionage, and I was barely aware of the history of my country, which is Finland, and our neighboring Russia.
I used to write a political blog on a Finnish website called "Uusi Suomi", it's a fairly old paper with a history, and the platform is quite central to Finnish political debate online, though I didn't know it when I started writing there, not having paid much attention to politics to begin with. To start of for me it was some kind of a way to express myself or something like, and I didn't really feel like it was significant or in any way consequential. Slowly though I began to realize that it actually is quite significant, and I started to reflect on my earlier whimsical posts, and even felt a bit sorry for having written some of them. Regardless, I commented on some central themes to Finnish politics, like economics, which I got interested in, and EU and just about whatever happened to be on the news at the time. So this was possibly one of the reasons I got into trouble with the Russians. There's the chance, that they noticed that I'm just another person participating in the public debate here in Finland, and perhaps they assessed my attitudes towards Russia as sympathetic - but this was in a sense a misassessment if it did actually take place, I think they might have mistaken my neutral and objective stance and the willingness to make unpopular points as such.
Another possible reason is that my brother is a fairly big chief in a banking chain here in Finland, it's a smaller chain, not one of the major banks, but he is regardless in charge of several banks in Southern Finland. Maybe like a dozen or something like that. In addition I think there's a good chance he is involved with the Russians, having visited Russia during his life, and because of his contacts from his earlier years who included some interesting people so to speak.
So I think one of the above two reasons is most likely the cause I got into this mess, but no one has told me what the reason is, I'm basically just trying to guess. Anyway, to me it has been clear, that I've gotten into trouble with the Russians, but I haven't received any concrete demands or explanations for what this is about.
Basically I met this guy called Andrei as part of a construction school I went into in the autumn of 2016. However, I had already received some strange messages online, and had met a couple of people in person who behaved strangely, before starting this school. But I basically came to think that they might have been related to this Russia harassment case after the fact, once I had already found out I'm this kind of trouble, I'm kind of looking back and thinking wait actually these early events may have also been about this affair.
Anyway, I get the experience that this Andrei person is trying to intimidate me during the school, but it's kind of subtle and not your normal kind of intimidation. I think it incorporated resources obtained by hacking my computer at home, for an example, one day I found some schoolwork related files deleted from computer, and then I had this Andrei person ask me questions during school, which related to those files, and you know that was rather vague, but I distinctly remember noticing these files disappearing from my computer, and that Andrei had questions which were very specific to them. I could explain this part in more detail, but I don't think it's necessary.
Andrei was an Estonian-Russian guy, who spoke Russian as his mother's tongue. He was also, or still is rather, but I haven't seen him since the class, anyway he was a big guy like a bit shorter than 2m, but probably a bit more than 1.9m, and also fairly heavy set, like at least 100kg, if I had to guess probably 120kg. And he was also always wearing, well almost always, this black and orange jumpsuit, which I think was ADIDAS by brand. This is a side detail, but I remembered that black and orange were used as a symbol of Russian national identity in Estonia. Could be a coincidence of course, but he was Russian, so it would make sense. But this is just an impression about the person, so you can kind of imagine it. Anyway this whole thing escalated, and I even received some threats. One day in school, after this escalation had taken place, Andrei even said that "We are going to kill you" in Finnish to me in person, but there's a context to this event, and giving the full account would change how you interpret it a bit.
There was also another student in this construction school who I think was related to this case, he was according to his own statement, from Tadjikistan, which is a former part of the Soviet Union, but he was ethnically some kind of a mix of an arab or an asian, I think the language he spoke primarily was some derivative language of arabic.
And I also got people behaving strangely towards me in person elsewhere too, like when I went to the local flea markets, going to which was one of my hobbies at the time, and at this early stage, most of those people seemed to be Russian-speaking.
However, I also started getting some trolling online, and I'm not going to go into details about that this time, but it's still significant, because whatever I decided to try and do online, there was a fair chance I'd get some harassment, though subtle harassment, in any such context.
Therefore, when I bought this computer in October 2020, and started playing DOTA2, it was already expected, that I might get some kind of harassment related to this case. And so I did, but it's not easy to detect. Anyway there's a good chance that in a large chunk of the games I play, there's some people related to this trolling affair. They're like low level civilian recruits working on behalf of the Russians, but certainly they're not actual you know security services staff, more like some locals from which ever region around the world, and they're doing something subtle and minor, such as selecting a profile picture with cues related to this case, or doing something in game which kind of lets me know that they're maybe doing it on purpose. Anyway as part of that a central thing is to create an illusion, a perception that's kind of false, like I might have a troll related to this Russia case playing as my support, they might be working hard to make it look like they're playing an excellent support, while actually they're also trying to make lose on purpose, for an example. It's pretty hard to determine things like that with certainty, but there have been more than enough cues during this period of time, that I can confidently say there has been some of this Russia trolling involved. It's just difficult to point at a specific thing that would stand out a lot, because it's part of the methodology involved, to do things over time and kind of slowly conditioning the person to the harassment, rather than single big events which stand out a lot. Though there are exceptions too.
So I'll explain another event which definitely relates to DOTA2 as part of this harassment case.
On 25th of January, I wrote on facebook about Russian espionage in Finland. Although, I did this as response to some other kinds of harassment I had received from the Russians earlier, so I didn't just decide to do that out of the blue, but there was a distinct event to which I was responding to. I'm part of this 'defense' group on facebook, that talks about the defense of Finland. I don't really post there, just read some posts every now and then - rarely.
On 26th as I wake up and make myself some coffee, and do my morning routines, brush my teeth, do the dishes, feed the cats and so on, I decide to play some DOTA2. So I start the DOTA2 client, and notice that the behavior score report card shows up. My behavior score is grayed out and it says 1. So I'm wondering what this is about, and think that maybe the client isn't connected properly and that's why it can't get the actual behavior score, until I try to click the find game button, which is red. It also says that my matchmaking is disabled. Permanently. So I was banned, permanently. I was thinking did I actually break the rules to warrant this? No, it was pretty clear. I even checked the DOTA2 wiki for reasons that might lead to this, and none support that this was warranted.
So I'm fairly certain - and there was a clue prior to this too - that the Russians got me banned, as a response to my facebook post from the previous day. I contact Steam Support. They come back to me, and eventually the case is resolved. I tell them that this was probably done as a revenge for a political post about Russian espionage on facebook, and they come back to me and say they're convinced no outside influence was involved, but I was regardless banned erroneously. An erroneous permanent ban for no apparent reason, on the next day after such a post. Go figure.
Anyway my behavior score remains as 1. This becomes a minor issue, because I join a couple of parties to play with, and I don't have a microphone, but I can't write to the game chat because of the score. So I took note of it, but it got updated back to normal, after a round of 15 games.
Fast forward a few days. Someone here on Reddit messages me that there's a discord server I should join, and that the people on that server probably understand this Russia case, and that I might find people to play with, or something along those lines. The server is called RD2L EU, a some sort of private league, playing captain's mode with drafting of players. A lot of high rated players too.
So I join the chat and start talking about DOTA. I also tell them about this Russia harassment issue, a couple of people join the chat, and it's immediately fairly obvious they're most likely part of this trolling scheme, for one, they were claiming that my reddit thread was written in Russian. Which it obviously wasn't and it was a typical trick to kind of confuse and stress out someone. You start to think, well why is it in Russian? Anyway luckily I instantly realized that A) The post is written in english B) Their settings are autotranslating it via google or something and C) They're doing it on purpose and D) that they're not just doing it on purpose, but they're doing it on purpose because they're part of this Russia-trolling-affair
I nevermind that for the moment, and the discussion goes back to DOTA. I mention this Viper build I designed to deal with this trolling problem. Basically I made an unorthodox Viper build for playing midlane, that's difficult for people in my rank bracket to deal with. I'm basically Herald I, or actually, before I made this build to counter this Russia-trolling problem, I had 10 MMR literally. When I designed it, I got to like 400 or so, won like 9 games out of 10, until the Russia-trolls figured out how to deal with it. Well nevermind that.

Then, suddenly, someone in the chatroom says the following: "What's your behavior score?"
I respond: "Something like 9000, why?"
Then he says and continues: "I know of a guy who got put to behavior score 1 by the Russians"
Then I find myself kicked and banned from this server.

So obviously this was deliberate reference to the earlier events, which I just described, and the fact that this message was written just before I got kicked out, was clearly no coincidence, but unfortunately since I couldn't rejoin the server, I can't copypaste the backlog. Besides it could be edited or something.
Anyway, the point is that because of this type of thing, I get these Russia-trolls in random pub matches with me. I also get people related to this case approaching me on discord. And I have uncanny difficulty finding regular people - or just finding people in general - to play DOTA2 with, and I wouldn't want to try and find them from the pub matches due to this issue.
So I'd like your help with finding people to play DOTA2 with. Also if you want to add me on steam,

Weapons of the Missing Fighters (Part 2)

Weapons of the Missing Fighters (Part 2)
First of all, for the people who did not read the first part about the weapons of Anubis and Okita, I leave the post here: https://www.reddit.com/ShuumatsuNoValkyrie/comments/krf8oh/weapons_of_the_missing_fighters/
So now let's start with what concerns us, the weapons of Simo Hayha and Apollo.

- SIMO HAYHA, The White Dead.
Don't judge the wrinkles of the old man in the right photo, his aim never ceased to be the most lethal of the world.

Simo Häyhä was born on 17 December 1905 and before the war he was a farmer by profession and enjoyed several different hobbies, including snow-skiing, hunting and shooting.
Yet for a soldier who spent so much time on the front line, Häyhä reported that he was never scared. He treated his job like he treated hunting and was always thinking of new ways to remain hidden and fool the enemy. He developed clever techniques, such as pouring water into the snow in front of him so that the muzzle blast would not expose his location by disturbing the light snow. He also became a master of using sounds, smoke and artillery fire to cover his movements when changing positions. With maps very scarce during the war, Häyhä relied on his memory to find the best hiding positions.
His main gun was an M/28-30, which is an improvement upon the M28, which is basically a Finnish Mosin Nagant variant, one that he had owned before the war, without even a telescopic sight. This rifle was the standard issued one for Finnish infantry in the late 1930s and Häyhä preferred the reliability of the model and the consistency of its shot. It was a basic weapon, but one that he had mastered through years of experience.
M28 and M/28-30

His secondary weapon was a Suomi KP/-31 sub-machinegun. As a sniper he scored 505 confirmed kills (plus 37 unconfirmed kills) in less than 100 days; the score of 505 made him the most successful sniper in any major war. As an infantryman using a Suomi KP/-31 submachine gun, he claimed an additional 200 kills.
Suomi KP/-31

Some habits never change regardless of age.

- APOLLO, god of archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and diseases, the Sun and light, poetry, and more.
https://preview.redd.it/wf6mfy8ledc61.jpg?width=268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ca7596e82b96ba56ffa0426251dd9f86d4eb96fe
As the god of archery and music, he is usually portrayed with 2 objects, the bow and the Lyre. So let's see the information I collect about these 2 objects:

The Golden Bow
Yep.. After searching and searching, apparently the bow has no other name besides "Apollo's Golden Bow" or "The Golden Bow". Apollo is usually described as carrying a golden bow and a quiver of silver arrows, and according to mythology the invention of archery itself is credited to Apollo and his sister Artemis.
About the powers or abilities or the bow, the only thing I found was that the bow and arrow are also a symbolic reference to Apollo as the god of plagues who shot plague arrows at the enemy during the Trojan War, although he was also capable of curing, and that is why Apollo is also known as the god of plagues and diseases, but also as the god of healing and protection against evil forces.
Also his bow and arrows are described as silver, but more as a symbol that represents his defeat of the monster Python.

The Lyre or Kithara
As the god of music, song and poetry, this is another of Apollo's best-known symbols. In ancient myths, the god Hermes created the lyre and gave it to Apollo in exchange for the rod of health. The Apollo lyre has the power to turn objects, such as stones, into musical instruments.
This last item is not very useful for fights if you ask me ... unless he turns the stones into pianos and throws them at his opponent.

Well.. This is all for the moment ¿did you find the information interesting? If it was to your liking I will gladly continue to share information about the weapons of the remaining fighters.
The next post will be about the weapons of ..... GRIGORI RASPUTIN and BUDDHA.

Thoughts on Season 7 Shootout

Hey guys, I've uploaded a new video that covers my thoughts on Shootout after Update 7.0. I'll add the general gist of the audio down below.
https://youtu.be/lBgZ5T0eafk
Overall, I'm definitely happy with the changes that've been made since Shootout is my favorite activity when I play solo. I would say that after Update 7.0, it's the best source of cosmetics and free crowns and also arguably best for XP/resources without investing crowns.
This season's biggest change to Shootout at the time of the video is that we can now earn Military Grade (purple) crates. The base xp for these crates is 750 XP, so you can expect large chunks of XP once you consider battle pass modifiers and the potential DXP event.
In addition to the 60 crown spawn from Shootout crates, we now have a chance to get 155 from these purple crates as well. This means Shootout is going to be a quality source of Military Grade crates which contain sought after plans and large amounts of resources in addition to other loot. The only other ways you get these (that I'm aware of) are from boosting the Airdrop in encounters, from donating at least 5K food once a week, and through leveling the battle pass. Even though crates are RNG, Shootout is one of the most time efficient activities if you're placing top 3 given all of the rewards.
Another nice change is that Shootout crates now give 250 xp when opened. So that's another convenient boost to our xp/hr. If multiple high XP POIs don't make a return, or boosting the loot isn't changed to add POIs, once again, I'd suggest Shootout for your grinding needs. If and when Encounters is fixed, adjusted or reworked, it could shift XP grinding back in Encounter's favor, but Shootout wins out for loot and XP on average for me. However, if you can consistently get threat and extract with the airdrop though, that's gonna be competitive xp rates, but that obviously takes a higher degree of skill than placing top 3 in Shootout.
Several additional consumable items have also been added. They can spawn in a metallic crate where weapon crates would usually appear. So far, I've seen armor plates, contact bombs and mortar strikes.
With this new weapon rotation, I think the Suomi is probably the best overall spawn weapon in this update, followed by the M60 if you're a dropshotter. The magnum is a sleeper weapon, It has a very small over-the-shoulder spread, but is held back by limited reserves on spawn. I always spawn with it, so it was worth learning how to use it. The stagger is notable and almost guarantees a free kill on standing opponents. If you're up against it, stay crouched or take the hit while jumping to avoid that effect.
The Bugle, SG1 and AUG variants are all great crate weapons.
I think the most annoying part of this weapon rotation is that it gives rooftop campers a lot of good weapons to work with on the current map, but I think maintaining a more aggressive and mobile playstyle pays more dividends when going for first place.
The Shootout loot rewards are great, but I do have some thoughts on what could use some extra attention.
These are my initial impressions, feedback and Shootout specific ideas in Update 7.0. So far, Shootout looks like it's in a good spot in terms of rewards. Hopefully something is done to Encounters to allow it to "catch up" and hopefully the crashes on Playstation and overall server stability improves. The devs have addressed this, so we'll have to see what solution they come up with.

Final call Finland! A remaining videogame from your country is missing!

Final Update (27.11.2020):
In the name of my preservation group, thanks so much for all the answers I've received from you.
I was kind of expecting this after not only seeing the comments you have send but my work after one year of research: This wasn't translated. I pretty much confirmed it after a private message with confidential information, pointing out that the game was never among the titles that teams in charge of suomi translations on those days had to deal.
Whether this Serial ID "SLES-03302" belongs to an unidentified regional release from other country or a cancelled release for the suomi people, who knows. Another proof of this, was confirming no PC Version translated to suomi was found, but the game was officialy released in english with backcover description for Finland. As I said, every regional release received a translated port for PS1 and PC and this was not the case.
Lego Rock Raiders is the only game from PSX confirmed to have suomi inside, which we knew for long.
http://redump.org/disc/15082/
However, this isn't that bad. Sometimes in gaming preservation, confirming something doesn't exist is harder than confirming it exists.
Again, thanks so much for your help! We'll keep working in the future to make sure we preserve all the gaming stuff we can, no matter its provenance.
In fact, who knows if there are unknown games from Sony Playstation 1, 2 or Portable still undocumented from Finland. We know for sure we are missing the following games from PS3:
BCES 02044 SingStar SuomiBileet
BCES 01915 SingStar SuomiHelmet
BCES 00847 SingStar SuomiHitit
BCES 01735 SingStar SuomiHuiput
BCES 00344 SingStar SuomiPop
BCES 01255 SingStar SuomiSuosikit

Hi Finland!
Long ago i posted this on your Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/Finland/comments/bwbmis/ey_finland_we_are_looking_to_preserve_some/
And time after, this:
https://www.reddit.com/Finland/comments/cogp63/one_last_call_finland_a_remaining_videogame_from/
People was really kind but we werent succesful, so I'm trying one final time, so we can finish this project, so here we go!
In case you dont want to read that much,
TLDR : Gaming preservation group called Redump needs to know if a finnish version for Lego Island 2 on Sony Playstation 1 (or PC) was ever released, confirming that is the last unknown european title to confirm its existence. Would be nice to catch it and dump it in order to finish for the first time in history, the complete European Playstation 1 set.
My name is Diego and i come from a platform called VideoGaming Preservation Collective.
https://www.preservegames.org/
Our platform works as a nexus for lot of different videogaming preservation groups and different people from the community. In this case, help is needed for Redump.org for optical media preservation (A.K.A. all kind of discs!)
http://redump.org/
In the last years, strong efforts were made by the members from this community in order to preserve the full set of games from Sony Playstation 1 & 2, a couple of amazing videoconsoles which we are fighting really hard to preserve every single game ever released. Those efforts included spending a lot of money and coordinating a lot of people to buy and bring those games to people across Europe (like me, in Spain) to obtain a proper data backup and document it.
For the first time in years, we are completely close to document every single detail and data from these game across Europe and Australia, what it's known as the PAL zone (being USA and rest of America, the NTSC zone, and Japan, the NTSC-J zone). And that's the reason we are calling this Reddit, to ask if any of you could help us in our tasks, by donating (or selling if it's needed) these games for gaming preservation.
The remaining one, that we havent been able to even confirm its existence is:
"LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge" with Serial ID " SLES-03302" .
We are really desperate to find this one, as we have great illusions on finishing your country's set of games for Playstation 1!
The main task is to document the disc and all the info around it, plus obtaining a clean backup (its a simple process made by a tool called IsoBuster). This process can be done by anyone owning the disc if you have a PC with disc reader. So, if you are still interested in helping us but dont wont to give out the game, you dont have to, as you can follow our steps (which doesnt go beyond than copying some info writen in the disc and dumping it with IsoBuster).
In case you wonder, I received permission from Lego Central Office Support in Denmark to encourage me save these games. Seems that lot of this content was lost after the Gaming division was bought by Warner Bros gaming division, so they gave permission to save this game, understanding this task is not related to piracy.
Thanks all so much for your atention!

The time when regulation creep made us look for muskets in Kosovo

When I was young and foolish, I thought that the Finnish Army is the worst run organization in the world, with the most outdated everything. For instance, when I was in basic training, the guys who had got in six months earlier were the last batch of recruits who were trained to maintain and operate the m/31 Suomi submachine gun; they swore the guys before them were instructed in halberd use. (I was actually a bit envious because they were ordered to shoot off the garrison's stocks of wartime 9 mm ammunition, and blasted off drum after drum in the range, sawing cardboard targets in half with the ease of recoil control on a 9-mm, 8-kg SMG.) And you should've seen the fatigues we were issued; or the face of one Finnish-American fellow who had come back to the homeland for mandatory military service, after having been discharged as Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Army, when he saw the rags, technically still camouflages I guess, but no two of them in the same color scheme.
Now that I'm merely foolish, I've come to realize that militaries everywhere are somewhat organized chaos where the key question is not how stupidly they do things, but whether they do things even slightly less stupidly than their adversaries. So I believe some of you, at least, can relate to the following.
The place is Kosovo, the year - let's say it's early 2000s in order to protect the guilty. The scene: a Finnish outpost of Company X, FINBATT, in the middle of nowhere.
By this time, things in the Area of Responsibility had quieted down after a decently exciting start. Various officers had now time on their hands, and idle hands are the Devil's plaything. So many of the things no one had missed from the "regular Army" were making a comeback as COs and XOs and probably the PX store keeper were using their idle opposable thumbs to put their thumb-mark on things, because as we all know, unless you issue some new orders that conflict with existing ones, how can we know you are an officer?
So what we got was a Grade A-1 Regulation Creep. Old regulations and standing orders were rarely countermanded and new additions just seemed to pile up as soon as some officer thought they would be a Good Idea. One example: when we patrolled in fully armored APCs, we had to wear full protective gear including protective vests with inserts, but due to orders issued by the departed Bn CO, we were not allowed to wear the vests when patrolling in soft vehicles, unless we were specifically ordered to do so. Why? No one I met could ever explain; the reasoning, if any, had already been lost in time, like tears in rain.
Now knowing this background, an industrious fellow we'll call Timo, Finnish for "Tim", had been perusing a history book about the army of the Gustavus II Adolphus. You know, the first time when Finnish soldiers got out from Finland, to the general detriment of all, and the period when our illustrious Pori Brigade considers itself founded. (Later, during preparations for an international exercise in Poland, one officer of the brigade was overheard to remark to another, "it's great to get back to Poland once again." Confounded, the other says he thought this was the first time a multinational exercise was held in Poland. "What, you don't recall the 1700s?")
He shows the book excitedly to everyone: yes, there it is, in the Rules and Regulations Concerning the Royal Pori Regiment of the Army. "Every soldier is entitled to a ration of beer every day", a ration being here about four liters. And as far as we are interested in knowing, these regulations have never been countermanded. Possibilities abound!
So that evening Timo and couple other guys surround the mess table where the company quartermaster is sitting after what I have to assume was a hard day quartermastering. Timo shows the quartermaster his book and a passage he had underlined and equipped with more exclamation marks than I cared to count, and says that he couldn't find anything that has countermanded these regulations. So as far as he is concerned, the Army owes him free beers.
The quartermaster takes a look at the book, at Timo, and a gaggle of troopers, yours truly included, that are now very interested in hearing the exchange. He leafs the book a bit. "Right you are. But see here, these regulations also state that soldiers must be equipped with a musket and a sword. Tell you what, boys, once you obtain the muskets, I'll sign the papers for beer rations."
Sadly, even though some of the older troopers immediately swear on their life that they were in service back when they were still teaching musket drills to everyone, and despite even the quartermaster agreeing that some secret underground depot back in Finland probably still stored muskets for grade F reservists, the battalion's armory remained traitorously obstinate even after we repeatedly explained why obtaining and airlifting a hundred or so muskets ASAP to Company X was an urgent tactical necessity. And no private supplier we could find could supply us in our need; apparently there were no musketry depots in Kosovo. Hope things have improved!
I think even the quartermaster was a bit disappointed of the outcome, and when the time came for our rotation to celebrate the end of our tour, he supplied our platoon with a purchase order for a bottle of whiskey - specifically noting that the order didn't specify the size of the bottle. So two guys spent a day touring shops until they found a 3-liter bottle of Jameson's. All's well that ends well!
