Rock-Paper-Scissors variations

Hello everyone,

so after watching Richard Carrillo's GDC talk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUQKbowVsIE&feature=youtu.be) yesterday, I've been thinking about possible transformations of Rock-Paper-Scissors this entire day.
Just to compile my thoughts, I'll list what I've thought up here. None of these games are original, it's just a mental excercise to see how many variations I could come up with. I'll also try to change the core mechanic as little as possible, so that I don't just list random games.

Rock'n'Steamroll
Rock-Paper-Scissors, first player to reach 5 points wins. The catch: winning a round with "rock" yields 5 points, winning with "paper" or "scissors" grants 1 point only. Selecting scissors early-game is almost suicidal, but once the opponent reaches 4 points, it's just as viable as the other options.

Paper, Scissors, Electric-Wind-God-Fist
Players assign roles (P1 and P2). Both players count audibly to three. P1 has to reveal on beat two, P2 reveals on beat three. Swapping can happen in 5 round intervals to be less confusing. If too easy, increase the speed. Traditional Rock-Paper-Scissors would not be fun with an RNG, but in this case, a permanent P1 could be one.
Inspired by fighting games, hence the name. If you select "rock", you need to shout "dorya!" (this is not optional).

Prisoner's Trilemma
Play Rock-Paper-Scissors for 10 rounds. You're allowed to talk with your opponent between rounds. If you win a round, you get 3 points. If you draw, you get 2, and if you're defeated, you get 0 points. Multiple pairs are playing. The player with the highest score at the end of all rounds is the winner.
If you do not know what the Prisoner's Dilemma is, you owe it to yourself to look it up!

Look Away
Players count audibly to three. On every beat, each player performs a gesture. Only the last one actually matters.
Inspired by the game with the surprisingly similar name from Super Mario Party 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LcxDzF1PeU

Rock-Paper-Scissors, Casino Edition
Multiple players can participate. One, neutral party is the dealer. Players can bet money before the round. Everyone gestures at the same time, and is scored individually against the dealer. Losing means losing the bet, winning returns twice the bet. Dealer could be an RNG.
If a draw takes place, the player is returned their bet, but needs to pay a cent to the dealer. We're a casino, not a charity organization.

Rock-Paper-Shotgun
Each gesture requires ammunition, and you only have 3 of each. Best-of-nine scoring.
Inspired by the very first game played in the gambling anime Kakegurui. Haven't found a good clip referencing it.

Hold my beer
Players stand in a circle. Your left hand plays a round with your left neighbor, your right hand with your right neighbor. All gestures happen at the same time. Between rounds, you may only change one of your gestures. At the end of each round, you count your points as follows: winning-2, draw-1, losing-0.

I feel like I could go on, but this'll have to do for now. I'd love some feedback and discussions!

Why playing cards?

So, I was kind of wondering why other people like playing cards.
For me, it’s a mix of things. I enjoyed playing cards as a kid, go fish and things like that. Gambit obviously made playing cards way cooler. I would get a pack of cards here and there so whenever my friends and I would go hang out we’d have something to do.
Then I ended up watching this gambling anime Kakegurui and got super into playing and collecting cards. Oddly, I still haven’t finished the anime, but the playing cards stuck and now I have well over 20 decks :|
The appeal of the actual cards though to me is the art, I really love unique art on the cards. I also have a love of all vintage things so vintage cards really tickle my fancy. There’s a certain rush from looking up the vintage cards I’ve purchased for anywhere from cents to a few bucks and seeing how much they’re actually worth.
I see people on here talk about decks “fanning like a dream” is this primarily from doing magic tricks and such things? Why do you like cards and what about them do you like?
OP Note: thanks for sharing everyone! It’s so neat to see how other people get into the same hobby :)

Good gambling anime other than Kakegurui?

I haven’t heard of any gambling shows but I really enjoyed the gambling in Kakegurui. If there are any other gambling specific shows or shows that have similar concepts I would love to watch them.

Lounge/gambling type anime (death parade and kakegurui)

Something with a chilled out or exciting atmosphere either is fine as long as it contains a lot of lounge games or card games or something like that.

How to get the full ''gambling'' experience of Kakegurui (Review and Anime v.s. Manga)

Note: I'm a very big fan of this series...
Kakegurui, the gambling show of Summer 2017. After finally seeing my favorite manga comes to life in an anime, I wanted to make this to share how I came to enjoy this series so much.
For people who don't know what Kakegurui is: Kakegurui is a gambling anime/manga. It takes place at Hyakkaou Private academy. An academy where the most elite and rich kids go to learn, but then also gamble away for their status, learning how to manipulate people and take their money. This has been normal until Yumeko Jabami shows up... a compulsive gambler that gets you on the edge of your seat, wondering what's she's going to do next. Because of the whole ''gambling aspect'' and how Yumeko plays, this series will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Did I mention that these people get off by gambling? Worth mentioning :) (Another note: I have not seen Kaiji or other gambling anime/manga, so I don’t have anything I can compare it to).
Okay, clearing that out of the way, for everybody who hasn't experienced this series yet, I think the best way to go about approaching this series is to read the manga first. Biggest reason? The artstyle.
To me, Kakegurui’s artsyle is one of the most important things of this series. It has drawn me in with it's beautiful eyes and reaction faces (you'll know what I'm talking about if u saw them). I feel like the anime has kind of put their own twist on it, by just focusing on realistic eyes, and really deforming their faces. Not to mention, the manga does look a lot sharper, and the character designs really show off what kind of character they are. I feel like MAPPA (anime studio) made these characters look a bit too bland and wonky for me (with Mary and Suzui suffering the most from it).
When it comes to the story, the manga still comes on top. Reason being the anime moves a bit fast, and doesn't 100% explain a situation. When learning the rules to one of the games they're about to play, you could get lost in the explanation in the anime, but you can take you time reading through them in the manga. Also, the anime has an original ending, while the manga is still ongoing, and we get to learn more. I'm kinda iffy about original endings in general, so...
Now, you must be thinking that I'm really hating on the anime, but the anime also has its strengths. Although I don't think the artstyle lives up to the manga, I do enjoy the little things that we don't see in the manga (Ex: voice actors, music, and AN AMAZING OP SONG. For real, the show is worth watching just for the OP). I also think it does do a pretty good job with summarizing the plot from the chapters it covered. It did miss a few things, but I feel like they did get most of it.
TL;DR: I highly suggest reading the manga for Kakegurui first and get caught up, then watch the anime to compare the two. I believe this is the best way to experience it. If you don't care about the artstyle and just want to get through this series, watch the anime, and start on the chapter they left off at in the manga if you get really hooked on it.
Now, for everybody that has already seen the anime and doesn't really want to see what the manga offers, I have made face comparisons in Anime v.s. Manga, showing how different these two are, and why it's worth reading the manga. WARNING, THESE DO HAVE SPOILERS:
Kakegurui Ep 1
Kakegurui Ep 2
Kakegurui Ep 3
I've only done 3 episodes because it's no fun to already know the reaction faces if you go back to read the manga. It might've not been enough for you to do so, but if you want to see more Yumeko, the manga has your back.
I understand I might be going overboard with making this thread about Kakegurui, but I have such a burning passion for this series that I don't want it to get swept under all these shows that are coming out these days. Hope you guys enjoy.
